"I love GwangSan" festival

Korean folk play tuho (arrow-throwing game)¡°I Love GwangSan¡± festival for foreign residents in Gwangju is slated to open at Woljeon Park, Pyeongdong Industrial Complex at Gwangsan-gu district, Gwangju on Sunday, Sept. 7. The event is in its fourth year and is another place for non-natives to join in the local holiday.

Some 1,500 people are expected to participate in the event that introduces Korean culture and its folk plays. Meanwhile, the locals will also be introduced to folk plays and dances from Africa, Pakistan, Vietnam and other countries at the same time.

Sports events such as group rope-jumping, relay races and a talent show will be other fun activities to join in. Lots of prizes are prepared for teams who perform excellently. Food booths will provide dishes of 10 nationalities along with local dishes free of charge.

Free legal consultations, medical check ups and other services will be organized by the Gwangju Immigration Office.

¡°There are over 600 marriage immigrants and some 4,700 migrant workers and students from overseas in Gwangsan-gu,¡± Jeon Gap-gil the administrator of Gwangsan District Office said. ¡°We shall be at the forefront of eradicating prejudice and discrimination to realize an open-minded society.¡±
